All parents have the same problem with their kids; they can’t get them to eat healthy. Kids watch a lot of TV and other commercial media and they get hyped so quickly that they soon start to think that fast food is the tastiest and that eating healthy usually means eating something that has no taste whatsoever.

For most parents, preparing healthy meals comes pretty easy, but the difficult part is to make them want to eat meals which are nutritious. This is what frustrates parents the most, especially when they know how important proper nutrition is and how it can prevent childhood illnesses and allow them to grow into healthy adults. However, there are super tasty and healthy food recipes I guarantee your kids will enjoy and they’ll even start asking for more.

With these recipes, you won’t have problems anymore.

1. Tofu

I know what you’re thinking. Probably something like “my kids will never ever even taste tofu.” But don’t give up just yet and bear with me for a while longer. It’s true that tofu is not exactly the most favorite food when you serve it in dishes, but you can use it as a creamy base in various desserts and smoothies.

Tofu has a lot of protein, iron, vitamin B and calcium. These are all important nutrients which kids need in great doses in order for their bones to develop properly. You can combine tofu with blueberries, raspberries, or some ice cream, to create great flavors your kids will love.

2. Sweet potatoes

This is one of the best recipes for kids, as it’s a very nutritious vegetable and it comes quite cheap. Sweet potatoes are filled with vitamin A, which is one of the best antioxidants around and it also protects the eyes and keeps them healthy. Babies simply adore sweet potatoes, given the fact that they have a bright color and they’re naturally sweet, of course.

However, most parents forget about them when their kids become toddlers. They don’t know that even older kids love them. Just peel the potatoes, wash them, pierce them in one or two spots, and bake them at 350 degrees for around 45 minutes or a bit longer. Then, put some topping over, like bit of maple syrup or applesauce, or you can make mashed potatoes.

3. Hummus

This heart-warming spread and dip is something most kids love eating, but don’t tell them that it’s made out of beans, or they can easily start hating it. Hummus is rich with complex carbs, protein, fiber and if you combine it with olive oil, you get a perfect tasty and healthy dish your kids will adore.

Your little ones will get the energy they need from complex carbs, while at the same time the fiber and protein will keep them full until you make dinner. Your kids will love it and they might use it as a dip for pretty much anything you bake for them. You can either buy it from a store or, if you have the time, make homemade hummus.

4. Avocado

Avocado is simply filled with monounsaturated fats. Don’t get scared right away; these are good fats which are essential for in a child’s everyday diet. Kids actually need around 30% of their calories to be from fats, preferably these unsaturated ones. But, how can you get your kids to eat this green and gooey substance?

Use it when you make sandwiches or wraps, instead of cream cheese or other unhealthy foods such as mayonnaise. You can easily make an amazing dip or spread by mashing it using a fork, while mixing it with some salt and a bit of lemon juice. You should look to start adding avocado to your kid’s nutrition early on, and you can also make amazing avocado baby food.

5. Carrot pancakes

Kids love pancakes right? Now, would you like to have the option of preparing healthy pancakes they can basically eat any time of the day? These pancakes are made out of rich nutrients such as canola oil, walnuts and carrots.

You can also add a lot of different spices, similar to making a carrot cake, such as ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, but these have much less calories and fat, as opposed to traditional carrot cakes. Children adore sweets and this cake-like meal will be just the things you can make for them. Use a food processor and make these pancakes in no time, but bear in mind that the batter might be thick and you will have to spread the pancakes so that they get the right shape.

So there you have it! Use these 5 recipes and your kids will not only have a healthy diet, but they will also enjoy the meals you prepare for them. There are a lot of combinations you can create with these things, be creative, and of course, combine them with healthy foods as well.
