baconbar

Anyone who knows me knows what a huge affliction I have for bacon. I mean, I’ll put it in anything – from donuts, to pancakes, to even cheesecake (hey, don’t knock it until you try it!). I seriously can’t get enough. I mean – bacon is amazing, y’all. It’s the best thing ever.

This past weekend, I had a little get together – and I had the perfect idea. Everyone I know loves bacon just like I do – because well, it’s bacon. What’s not to love? So, I made the ultimate centerpiece on the buffet table…

A bacon bar!

Say what?

You heard me. A bacon bar, y’all.

And if you’re gonna do a bacon bar, you know you gotta do it right & use good quality bacon. I consider myself a little bit of a bacon aficionado & my family/friends know this – so I have to serve the best of the best on this bacon bar.

For that reason, I went with Wright® Brand Bacon because it’s super high quality & always has the best cuts of premium meat…and the bacon never ever shrivels up & shrinks (boo for bacon shrinkage!). The fat & meat ratio is perfect, and it’s thick cut. Oh so good!

I did a variety of different flavors – and even a little ‘dessert’ bacon too by drizzling melted milk chocolate on some bacon & melted dark chocolate on some other pieces of bacon. If you haven’t tried chocolate covered bacon yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Sweet & salty perfection, my friends.

As for the rest of my bacon bar, I cooked up 3 different flavors. I went to the local Food Lion & picked up 3 different flavor varieties of Wright Brand Bacon – Hickory Smoked, Applewood Smoked, & Bourbon Barrel Smoked. (Wright Brand Bacon also comes in Smoked Brown Sugar and Oak Barrel Smoked flavors).

I used my 3 tier server to display all the bacon goodness, placing each flavor of bacon on a different tier.

The Bourbon Barrel Smoked (on the very top of the buffet server) was my FAVORITE of all. Oh. My. Gosh. It’s SO good. It’s way better than I imagined. As soon as you open the package, the bourbon notes hit your nose – and the flavor is still there after cooking. So yummy & so different than any other bacon I’ve tried. We all agreed that it’d be so good to season baked beans too.

We had a little bacon voting contest too – everyone placed their vote for their favorite flavor of bacon. Mine was obviously the Bourbon Barrel Smoked – but the Applewood Smoked won out among everyone. You can join in on the vote & vote for your favorite flavor of Wright Brand Bacon here. – Bacon The Wright Way™

All in all, I cooked up 8 pounds of bacon! I think I might have cooked a couple pounds too much because we were all stuffed after 6 pounds! I think this may be the very first time I’ve ever had leftover bacon 😉

With all this leftover bacon, I’ll be adding it to dishes for the next few days. Do y’all have any ideas to use it up? Leave a comment & let me know what YOUR favorite recipes with bacon as the main ingredient – I could use a little inspiration!
