Give classic holiday fudge a fun twist with this butter pecan fudge recipe! Gather your kids and spend some time together making an old fashioned holiday treat.
I have always loved baking and cooking during the holiday season. Itâs such a perfect time of year to spend making something yummy to eat with friends and family. From cookie baking to gingerbread house decorating, the holidays provide an excuse to gather in the kitchen and be creative with family and friends. When I was a little girl I had visions of an all day cookie fest spent in the kitchen with my mom and two sisters. We never really managed a cookie fest, but we did manage to whip up a few treats every year, one of which was a huge pan of chocolate fudge made with marshmallow cream. It was a family favorite and weâd eat it by the pound.
As an adult, and feeling adventurous, I wanted to make real fudge â without the marshmallows. Somewhere along the way a friend sent me a recipe for butter pecan fudge that was the best fudge Iâve ever had. The ingredients for butter pecan fudge are pretty basic â butter, heavy cream, vanilla, salt, pecans and three kinds of sugar. But oh my goodness, the end result is a melt in your mouth goodness that is incredible.
Like most candy making, fudge is pretty simple to make it just takes a little patience and a lot of stirring. You mix together the cream, two sugars, salt and butter together in a pot and let it come to a boil. The mixture boils, while you stir constantly, for 5 minutes. Then you add more sugar and the pecans and it just needs to cool.
The fudge will be set once it is cooled to room temperature, but I like to give it 24 hours to really firm up.
