I wanted to practice my frostings and to make an inexpensive cupcake to decorate & send with my husband to school! I didn't want a rich chocolate, just a very simple, moist & frostable cupcake.

This is my new, very quick and simple cupcake recipe!

I created a simple and easy to replicate Chocolate Cupcake with Red Wine Buttercream Frosting.

I made some very small adjustments to this recipe from Taste of Home, to make mine red wine flavored--I substituted water for wine.

While the cupcakes are baking, start working on this wonderful icing!

To frost these cupcakes, you can use a knife or spatula to achieve a simple frosted look, or a flat one and then pipe colorful designs onto the top.  Or, you can use a piping bag and a fun tip to frost the cupcakes!

For these cupcakes, I used a Wilton tip #32 which makes these fun coral-like designs, but one of my favorite and a very popular tip is the #1M tip, which creates wonderful icing, perfect for cupcakes, like these:

please excuse the horrible picture here!
These are my apple cider cupcakes with salted caramel frosting and
caramel sauce  that I decorated a  wilton #1m tip

Inanna's cousins were visiting her for Easter,
& I made them all stop wrestling in the kitchen while I baked!
Don't they all look so sad?
