Have you ever experienced #Christmas Stollen Moments and Almond Bread Smiles?
Queen Lou (from Cambelltown Moonlight Markets 1 and 2 and Conversations over Chivito fame to name a few) and I have recently!
But please indulge me today and let me digress!
When I was little, I grew up around old world Italian and old world Greek families!
The olâ (not old) adage is if you came from a small family, you wanted a big one and and if you had a big one (on occasion lol) you wanted a small one!
So âpreservingâ traditions (of any culture) was and is important to me!
Our family had many #Christmas Stollen Moments and Almond Bread Smiles.
My name is Joanne aka Joanna aka mickeydownunder aka FANG and I have a confession!
I STILL believed in Santa Claus aka Father Christmas in Australia until I was 25!
While I knew (and hope there are not many children reading my blog with their parents today lol), Santa Claus was a âmythical, magical, man,â, I used to love the âtradition of magicâ that happened at Christmas!
Neighbors who didnât have the time to talk to each other during the year because they were too busy, all of sudden MADE time to visit and enjoy a conversation and Almonds Bread Smiles over coffee!
âWhat does that have to do with Stollen (not spelled incorrectly lol) Moments?, I âhearâ you say?
Thank you for asking and with my story, I will get on my way!
One of our family traditions on Christmas Eve was we opened one present each.
Christmas morning was always about #Christmas Stollen Moments as breakfast always included a âwonderfully home made fruit Stollenâ; fruit cake containing dried fruit covered with sugar, powdered sugar or icing sugar made with dried fruits, nuts and spices.
It is âtraditionallyâ a German cake eaten during Christmas and is also known as Christstollen or Weihnachtsstollen.
Fast Forwardâ¦.to Queen Louâs and my visit to Salta in Bocca, a participating Flavours of Campbelltown Food Trail business.
For the history and romantic story surrounding Salta in Bocca, feel free to re-acquaint yourself with Flavours of Campbelltown Food Trail, Flavours of Campbelltown Media Tour 2013, Back on the Flavours of Campbelltown Food Trail and Campbelltown Moonlight Markets!
Owners Therese and Andreas produce some of the finest almond breads in Australia!
It is no wonder when you experience them, you can taste how they were baked with TLC; tender loving care!
Please tell me I am not the only one today who sees and feels the Almond Bread Smiles?
During the #Christmas season, Therese bakes her âinfamousâ Stollen and Stained Glass Almond breads. (which I have previously referred to in posts as cookies lol)
Todayâs visit was fun as Therese shared her #Christmas Stollen Moments and Almond Bread Smiles with Queen Lou and me and all who visited that day!
I must admit, Thereseâs Stollen is fantastic and Queen Lou and Chef Georgio agrees; Princess What? stopped by the other day with Prince Giancarlo and gave Salta in Boccaâs Stollen two thumbs up too!
Thereseâs Stollen with each bite, brings back many fond childhood memories for me!
Once Thereseâs Stollen sells out (and it does every year), thatâs it until the next #Christmas season.
Thereseâs Stained Glass Cookies (Almond breads) are special and makes for a great surprise gift for that last minute person on your list or that surprise pressie (Australian lingo for present) you did not know you were going to receive!
Seeing that itâs Christmas Eve (here), I will keep this post short for you to view and I have a few last minute things myself to do!
