Toasted bread and whipped goat cheese are the starters for this goat cheese appetizer. Each slice is drizzled with honey and hazelnuts for a sophisticated flair!
Growing up, the dinner table would always hold two things; hot sauce and a basket of bread. Â I would make full use of both of these items. Â The hot sauce was used to boost all the food that I hated, the bread was to take up room in my belly so I'd be too full to finish all the food that I hated.
The bread basket was usually stocked with hardy rye or pumpernickel bread that begged for lots and lots of butter. Â I'd probably spend a good 5 minutes buttering each slice of bread, taking care to spread the butter into each corner of the bread slice. Â Then I'd shovel two slices of bread into my mouth before dinner even made it to the table.
I still love buttered bread, although my butter consumption has significantly decreased. Â Now it's all about goat cheese! Â I first had this goat cheese appetizer a few months ago and I instantly fell in love with it. Â The simplicity makes it appealing and the taste makes it addicting!
The goat cheese is combined with heavy cream and a bit of cream cheese and then whisked like crazy until it is smooth and ultra creamy. Â And hand mixer can be used, but honestly your own hand can be the best kitchen tool. Â Slightly toast your bread and smother each slice with this tangy goat cheese spread. Â Then drizzle each slice with sweet honey and sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts. Â Bread and butter will look so dull and common after you have this goat cheese appetizer. Â In other words, this bruschetta is life changing.
