Local Savour Cinnamon & Powdered Sugar Doughnut Holes
I have been naughty lately ââ you know, eating those things that you are not suppose to eat on a daily basis. Cupcakes one day, rich, creamy chocolate the next and as if that were not enough, for some reason, I have been craving doughnuts and more specifically ⦠doughnut holes ⦠and because they are âholesâ I guess they donât feel quite as bad as eating a full doughnut. Maybe? Did you know that doughnuts are enjoyed in some form or another all around the world? From the Krofi in Slovenia to PÄ czki in Poland to the Fánk in Hungary to the Bánh cam in Southern Vietnam to the Koeksister in South Africa to the Doughrings in Scotland and let us not forget the oh-so-lovely beignet from Southern Louisiana ââ I find this fascinating and perhaps the world could be united with something as simple as fried bits of dough. Doughnuts were first documented in the early 1800â²s and have been in thousands of recipe books over the years and they ooze with pop culture references from the Simpsonâs to Police Academy Movies to video games and apps. Some have yeasty doughs while others are more cake-like and are served with toppings or filled with creams and jams but I really havenât met a doughnut that I didnât like. I am not sure what it is about those sweet little balls of fried dough that bring such joy to my day but ⦠fresh, just-made, piping hot doughnut holes are welcome anytime in the kitchen. Upon making Local Savour Doughnut Holes rolled in cinnamon and powdered sugar my boys squealed with delight and my craving was satisfied (and then some). Ok, now somebody, please, pass me a salad.
