âTis the season for cooking! I love holiday baking and cold-weather cookingâ¦or at least I love enjoying the results of all of my holiday baking and cooking. Not only are the foods delicious, but holiday foods are typically about so much more than the dishes themselves. The foods we serve to family and friends throughout the holiday season are a huge part of our traditions, our gift-giving, and even the memories that we take with us from year to year.
I still vividly remember the foods that my family made each Thanksgiving and Christmas. In fact, I still make many of those dishes for my own family now, and I suspect that my kids will do the same when they have families.
The only problem with many of those traditional holiday appetizers, desserts, and other dishes is that they are so time consuming and labor intensive to make. Sometimes I just need a simple treat to bring to a party or concert or to send on a cookie plate to the neighborâs house.
This week I discovered a recipe so simple and so easy to make that I will adding it to the top of my holiday entertaining list. Did I mention that this recipe uses just 3 simple ingredients? It is tasty with a hint of spiciness, and if the fact that they disappeared almost immediately is any indication, Iâd say everyone loved them.
Amazingly, the ham and pepper jack pinwheels that I made this week were eaten before a different sweet variety with cinnamon and frosting. That tells you that these little babies were amazing!
Another bonus â have you ever noticed that holiday get togethers seem to be heavy on the sweetsâ¦and that the savory appetizers always go fast? These are sure to be the hit of your next party!

I am particularly fond of pepper jack cheese, and I think that the little kick that the pepper jack added was a huge bonusâ¦but if spicy is not your thing, then itâs totally ok to substitute your favorite cheese instead!
