I have a little secretâ¦I talked about it before but I donât think you can really understand how bad the problem is unless you see it for yourself. Iâm a bit of a packratâ¦.a hoarder, if you will. Itâs not so bad that you canât walk through my house without having to step over piles of newspaper from 1973â¦.but you should probably wear a hardhat if you open one of my closets. The rest of my house is clean and tidyâ¦.but the closets, thatâs where my deep, dark secret is hidden away. I like to hold onto thingsâ¦just in case. You know, just in case someone in the house needs a chocolate balsamic syrup from 1984. Or just in case those acid washed jeans come back in styleâ¦even though I could never squeeze my buns into a size 00 again. I like to hold onto things because you may just need it or want it or regret throwing it away because that Bruce Springsteen cassette tape set just may be worth something someday.
But I DO get to my breaking point and need to call in help when things get out of controlâ¦.and thanks to OXO, I tackled my overly stuffed pantry closet, which is tiny to begin with, and gained some control over my hoarding issue so I can get some work done efficiently. (Holy, run-on sentence!) My pantry is the size of a small shoebox, basically. So, disorganization is not an option in there and it was highly out of controlâ¦.as you can see.
Iâve been wanting to store some homemade pantry staples in there like fajita seasoning and Instant Pancake Mix but there just wasnât any room left to spare. Like noneâ¦at all. And no matter what I did to try to organize it things just still seemed crammed in thereâ¦then the family would rummage through the closet and, well, you probably know how that goes if youâve ever lived with someoneâ¦other than yourself and your dog. Right? Nothing was labeled, bags of opened flour and rice were spilled all over the floor, cracker boxes that were practically empty were stuffed into the corners. Homemade taco seasoning was stuck to the bottom shelf. Despicable.
OXO was kind enough to send me their incredibly awesome POP Containers so I could tackle my pantry problem with ease. Their containers are amazing and designed to hold everything from flour to spaghetti to fruit snacks. The airtight lid keeps everything fresh and with just a simple push of a buttonâ¦.to open, press again and you have a handy little handy to lift the lid right off. The lids also come apart for easy cleaning and everything is BPA free!
I think they had a pretty good idea of how bad I am at staying organized because they sent along some Removable Labels, too! They come in 3 different sizes and come off the containers cleanly without any sticky residue so when you run out of Ditalini you can use the container for something else.
A few quick tips for proper panty reorganization:
The OXO POP Container is perfect for storing this easy to make Homemade Instant Pancake Mix, too! Itâs great to have on hand for back to school and lasts for several months when stored in an airtight container. The Instant Pancake Mix makes fluffy, light, slightly sweet pancakes that are perfect every single time. Add some berries or chocolate chips to make them a little extra special and to refuel after your own closet reorganization. Nowâ¦..itâs time to tackle the bathroom closet. Anyone want to help?
