As a blogger primarily focused on food the bulk of my work is creating delicious, easy recipes that those that read this blog are able to recreate at home with the same results.
Easy job? Well, not always, but many times it is.
The biggest question I get is âHow do you come up with recipe ideas?â When I first started this blog many years ago, my intent was simply to teach myself to cook by following recipes of others. I quickly found that was just not as fun as creating my own recipes that fit my family. So, that little idea I had evolved into doing my own recipe development. Then, I immediately had that thought of âwhat if I run out of ideas?â
Over the years though, I have learned that there will always be ideas churning as long as we are living our lives. I can go into a restaurant and immediately I am inspired to recreate a dish or a great idea to add a twist to a particular dish.
One of my biggest inspirations though is my own family, simply spending time in the kitchen with my own family inspires me to carry on. I love having my kids in my kitchen with me to make delicious foods they would love to eat. I was âblessedâ with very picky eaters, yes âvery pickyâ. That means I am constantly challenged to think in âpickyâ eater mode to create recipes that even my picky eaters will enjoy.
One recipe that immediately comes to my mind are my Pepperoni & Spinach Pizza Cups. Yes, itâs a very simple recipe, but I had to think in terms of my kids for this one. I needed something they would love, like pizza, but I had to somehow get more veggies into their diet. This led to adding the spinach into the pizza cups which my son later dubbed âBatman Juiceâ. That day as I watched my son actually eat something with a veggie in it, made all this cooking worth it. I felt like I had won over the world all because I finally found something he loved that had veggies in it but it didnât bother him! For those with picky eaters, you all know the feeling you get when that happens.
In saying this, I challenge each of you to get Out of the Kitchen and become inspired with Face Time with your friends and family. Maybe even actually take a cooking class too, have you done that before?
I took one a few years back and it was one of the most rewarding experiences!
Finding time outside of the kitchen is one of the best inspirations for me as I get back inside the kitchen!

I started my blog in 2010 after growing up not knowing how to cook. I taught myself to cook and literally went from burnt oven mitts to homemade meals. Now I share easy recipes daily for my readers!
