Take your place at the table

tajinblog.jpgLet’s talk spice. You know…zing, zest, pizzazz.

Tajín is a company in Mexico that produces a tangy, spicy “fruit seasoning” powder (salsa en polvo) consisting of chile peppers, salt and dehydrated lime juice.

You can find this stuff everywhere in Mexico. I mean EVERYWHERE and it is most certainly a staple down here so it only seems natural to write about this popular spice and offer a popcorn method I think you may love.

Ok, so I’m really just stalling because I’m running behind on my Coba story and my partner-in- crime, a.k.a. my editor, is out of the country.

What you’ll need:

  • Popcorn
  • A lime
  • A bottle of Tajín

Take the popcorn and pour in a bowl. Squeeze lime juice over the popcorn. Sprinkle with Tajin (a little or a lot). Toss.

Whala!

Pssst! Don’t buy popcorn with butter. Scared of popcorn lung? Pop your own.

I swear on everything that is holy, if you are a salt person instead of a sweet eater then it will be hard for you to eat popcorn any other way. I’ve been doing this for years thanks to my best friend from high school and her Hispanic roots.

Oh, and don’t you dare stop at popcorn. Put the gritty stuff on fruits, veggies, meats, tortilla chips and beer.

Go bonkers.
