Happy Ambrosial Pungent Pleasant Yippee! Heavenly Outrageous Unsweetened Rich
Itâs Friday!!! That means itâs Happy Hour day!!!
Iâve already had mine and itâs only 10:00 am!! Settle down there peeps, no alcohol was involved in the making of my happy morning. No siree Bob (that sounded like Iâve been drinking, but really, I have not), something much, much, much, much better than an adult libation crossed my lips and warmed my heart this morning. I love you mulled apple cider.
Tis the season, and Iâm not wasting any time. You need to make this today!
It doesnât take any time to whip up a pot of mulled cider, yet it tastes so complex and aromatic that you would think that it took all day for the apples and spices to marry into that serving of pure bliss. It also makes your house smell like Heaven.
The minute the pot starts heating up, the aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, apple, and orange begin wafting through the air. If that smell doesnât put you in a happy place, wellâ¦.Iâve got nothing for you. Except, maybe that first sip. That is a mood changer folks.
The glass or mug that you pour that cider in will get all steamy and warm, and then youâll feel the heat against your lips, and that golden piquant liquid will warm your soul as it slides down your throat. Whoa there! I just had to slap myself back to earth. I was getting way to close to writing the next 50 Shades of Grey. Embarrassingâ¦â¦..
So how do I make my mulled cider? Iâll tell you. I buy a gallon of organic apple cider and pour 10 cups into a big pot. Then I slice up some apples and oranges and throw them in with the cider. Then I add two tablespoons of Williams-Sonoma mulling spices and bring it all to a boil. Lastly, I turn the heat to the lowest simmer on my cook top for 15 minutes. Thatâs it. So simple.
Cold fall and winter nights will be so much more bearable if you have a mug of mulled cider to warm you up. There is nothing cozier than building a fire, grabbing a blanket, and sipping on this deliciousness. If you want to adulterate it, go ahead and add a little brandy or rum. Truth be told, I prefer mine innocent. I donât want anything ruining the flavor of the apples and spices. But thatâs just me.
Have an awesome weekend, stay warm, do fun things, and drink some mulled cider!
