Take your place at the table

If you want to be healthy and believe in the importance of eating right and maintaining a daily workout routine then New York City is the place for you. As the frozen yogurt trend came and is now fading the newest trend is the raw cold pressed juices.

Even low grade Jamba Juices are selling shots of wheatgrass (which by the way is the juice bar in the lower east sides Whole Foods market). Billboards, bars, and new spots are sprouting up like its the FroYo crazy of 2008. This is great for New York residents as Mayor Bloomberg was adamant about kicking out those Mega Sodas and succeeded in helping the city move towards a more healthy lifestyle.

Another thing that really made a difference is the fact that the city is the place where you are forced to walk and not drive everywhere. With little parking available and it not being feasible to own an automobile in the city it is important to note that New Yorkers walk, swim, and workout more than any other city dwellers in the United States.

Not to say that great places like California are not well ahead overall in being healthy as they certainly are. The golden state as a whole is ahead of the rest of the nation and San Francisco as well as Los Angeles are only a tiny bit behind NYC in the living healthy statistics. For the time I spent opening up the Aquaview office in Long Island it was amazing to see the difference in health food stores, walkability, and how different living in a city is compared to the suburbs in the state of New York.

In California however there is such urban sprawl that the entire metropolitan area feels like it is filled with raw juice spots and chances to get your organic fix for the day.

So let 2015 be the year that you strive to be healthier whether you live in New York City, California, or anywhere else. Motivation to live healthy by eating healthy is important.
