Oreo Bark Photo

I'm a sucker for any kind of chocolate bark. I'm obsessed with this Oreo Bark, it's so simple and delicious. My other bark obsession is my Chocolate Peppermint Bark. It's perfect for the holidays and makes a great homemade gift.

Another favourite is my Chocolate and Peanut Butter Bark. There is nothing better than chocolate combined with peanut butter. It's the perfect duo. Creamy peanut butter swirled with milk chocolate, it's heavenly.

I also happen to have a soft spot for all things "Oreo". This is the perfect combination of two of my favourite things. Every bite is a flavour burst. I could eat this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No joke.

My obsession with bark and Oreo treats collided about 30 years ago when a lady I babysat for taught me how to cook a few of her favourite treats. She taught me how to make an Oreo Ice Cream in a time when you couldn't buy it in the store.

She also happened to be a whiz with making homemade candy. Every year around the holidays I would tell her how much money I spent on buying bark for my Dad. He loved Laura Second’s Almond Bark. So, she taught me how to make it.

Life. Changed. Forever.

Not even kidding. Learning how to make my own bark was completely life changing. Not only did it save me money, but I could customize each recipe for every person I made it for. Or I could give in to my daily cravings.

She taught me how to add things to the bark to my heart's content. We made every kind of bark on the face of the planet. One day we were making Oreo Ice Cream so we decided to smash extra Oreos for some bark.

If you've never smashed a bag of Oreos I highly recommend it. Not only is the process therapeutic, it's great fun. Just toss some in Ziploc bag and whack it with a rolling pin. SO. MUCH. FUN.

If you want to keep this bark clean looking I highly recommend chopping the Oreo cookies instead of smashing them. Either way works but chopping them means a crisp white bark.

For this bark I did not mix the ingredients together like I normally would. I melted the chocolate and poured some on a pan, then I placed the chopped Oreo cookies over top, then drizzled on the rest of the melted chocolate.

You can mix it in a bowl if you like. Just know your bark may look a bit grey in colour if you do so. It will still taste incredible, it just won't look as clean and crisp. But quite frankly, who cares. Taste is all that matters.

I hope you love this recipe. You can customize it to your own taste. If you like milk chocolate, then use it. If you want to add more Oreo cookies to this, knock yourself out. Baking is all about YOUR own taste! Make it your own.

Oreo Bark Recipe

Ingredients

  • 24 ounces white chocolate almond bark, chopped
  • 15-20 oreos, chopped

Directions

  1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Place the chopped white chocolate (or vanilla candy coating) in a microwave safe medium sized bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave and cook for 1 minute. Remove and stir, then place back in the microwave for another 1 to 2 minutes, being sure to check the mixture EVERY 15 seconds. Since every microwave is different it's really important to check it consistently. You want it to be smooth.
  3. Once it's melted pour about 1/3 of the white chocolate (or vanilla candy coating) on the cookie sheet. Smooth out. Toss the chopped Oreo cookies over top.
  4. Then pour the rest of the white chocolate (or vanilla candy coating) over top of the cookie layer. Smooth out.
  5. Toss some crushed Oreos over top if desired.
  6. Place the pan in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  7. Chop with a knife or snap by hand.
  8. Store until needed. Or eat it all right away, no judgment here.
  9. Serve with a big old Oreo Bark loving smile!
