Peach pie is a summer picnic staple, but what do you do when you need to serve a crowd? The answerâ¦.Peach Slab Pie. Just as tasty as the classic peach pie but a little bigger and easier to make.
I canât seem to get enough of the peaches this year. Theyâre almost as refreshing as a glass of water on a hot summer day. And they smell simply heavenly. Iâve been tossing them into just about everything like this sweet and addictive bundt cakeâ¦.and stillâ¦.canâtâ¦getâ¦enough. I thinkâ¦and itâs just meâ¦.part of the draw and the reason I eat so many peaches in the summer is because before you know itâ¦.theyâll be gone. And weâll all be left with those mealy wannabes at the grocery store come fall. Sitting thereâ¦all sad next to the apples and pears.
So, nowâ¦Iâm trying my best to create my own little peach fest right here in my kitchen. And when Harry & David peaches come knocking at your doorâ¦.you make a pie to share with your friends. A Peach Slab Pie thatâs loaded with fresh, juicy peaches and topped with a beautiful buttery lattice crust. A pie worthy of posing for a magazine. Itâs a classic and reminds us of a simpler time when friends would gather on a porch for some sweet tea or dessert to enjoy the chirp of the summer crickets. Bring back the good ole days and serve this Peach Slab Pie at your next cookout or summer gathering.
Itâs really simple to make, donât let the lattice crust fool you. Just roll out your dough and cut into 1 inch strips. Lay then across your pie and weave. Itâs super easy and creates the perfect flaky topping for your sweet, tender peaches nestled inside. A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top doesnât hurt, either.
You can get the full recipe over on the Harry & David blog right now and be sure to order some of their amazing OreGold® peachesâ¦.they are simply to die for.
