How to make a Treacle

The Treacle is a twist on an Old Fashioned first created by Dick Bradsell. The Treacle is nothing more than a rum Old Fashioned with a float of pressed apple juice.

Traditionally a Treacle is made using a dark rum whilst our video below we opted for the addition of a spiced rum and Regans No. 6 Orange Bitters.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Add a sugar cube to a mixing glass
  2. Soak sugar cube in bitters
  3. Muddle sugar if needed
  4. Add dark rum
  5. Fill mixing glass with ice
  6. Stir (approx. 20 secs)
  7. Strain over fresh ice into an old fashioned glass
  8. Garnish with a citrus rose or apple fan
