There’s quite a few Wagaya restaurants around Australia. They have a cool LCD ordering system, and it works pretty well. It does quite a bit of time to go through the menu this way though. The items came very quickly after ordering too.

We wanted to kind of just snack because we had some other places near by that we wanted to try too.

We started off with some cones – the Chicken Katsu, and a Salmon Avocado roll. I don’t eat many cones because back in Vancouver they don’t usually have non-seafood cones. I actually liked it a lot. The chicken was very crispy and flavourful, and the mayo was good. It kind of made it taste like a McChicken sushi roll. The salmon and avocado was good too, but there was too much rice.

We also ordered the Agedashi Tofu, and a Ramen combo that comes with Gyoza, and some Fried Rice. These weren’t very good though. The Agedashi Tofu was pretty bland and the sauce didn’t have much flavour. The ramen wasn’t very good either with one thin little piece of pork. The broth was OK, and there was a decent amount of noodles, and bamboo shoots, but way too little meat. The rice was probably the worst of the bunch. Nothing much to it. The pork gyoza was decent though. The meat was moist, and the skin wasn’t too thick.

Their lunch menu is a bit different than their dinner menu, and my friend’s food during dinner was better. The service was quick and helpful, and the LCD ordering was a neat idea. You don’t have to wait for someone to give you a menu or take your order. It can be done as soon as you sit down.
